Ignoring (for now) the dangers/foolishness of using 200mw lasers without good knowledge
and control, what I meant was using the diodes for 100mbit RONJA, which I understand is
mainly limited by available TX hardware right now. 200mw diodes, even run at 20mw, that
can be switched at 100/125mhz are not easily available in electronics stores according to
previous posts, but many people have access to dead/older DVD-burners. At today's
prices, some would even be willing to sacrifice working units.
I, like others, would love to see 100mbit RONJA, so I wanted to suggest that you consider
taking these available parts along with (I thought) MII chips from old NICs to make a roadmap
for this higher-speed equipment.
